Hundreds of kilometres of country roads are barely used by cars and mostly paved, ensuring cyclists easy tours that wind through medieval villages and old farmhouses, “navigating” through the dense rice fields or against the backdrop of Baraggia’s woods. Food and wine tourism also flourishes here, and in addition to superb reds from the hills of Vercelli and the whites from the Canavese area, it is also home to the only PDO certification in Italy awarded for rice production, and a great dairy tradition between Biella, Novara and Valsesia that can boast of its toma and gorgonzola cheeses.
